Best laptop/net book?

I am pleased to go to university next year and I hope to be in a biology / medicine program. I wonder what I should buy? I already have a fantastic HP desktop, the plan for enrollment at the university with me, but I want to do something to take notes in class. Should I choose a laptop / notebook or netbook? I was at the purchase of Acer Aspire One Netbook, or HP Mini, but I would like to get some other opinions to be heard.
